About the Project

The position supports the PPH Bundle Scale-Up Project, which builds on the success of the E-MOTIVE trial and Smiles for Mothers project. The initiative aims to drastically reduce maternal deaths caused by postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) by ensuring the steady availability, affordability, and use of essential maternal health commodities across Niger State.

Role Summary

As a State Technical Assistant (STA), you’ll provide hands-on technical and operational support to ensure high-quality maternal healthcare delivery. You’ll work directly with healthcare workers, local authorities, and community stakeholders to strengthen systems for drug supply, financing, and health insurance coverage—all to improve access to life-saving PPH care for women.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct facility assessments and strengthen stock/inventory management to prevent PPH commodity shortages.
  • Build capacity of healthcare workers through mentoring and training.
  • Support financial accountability and transparency of the Drug Revolving Fund (DRF).
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on maternal health access and program progress.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Economics, Health Financing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in health financing, maternal health, or system strengthening—preferably within Niger or Kano State.
  • Skills:
    • Strong stakeholder engagement and advocacy abilities.
    • Deep understanding of Nigeria’s maternal health ecosystem.
    • Excellent analytical, data management, and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in English and Hausa (other local languages are a plus).
    • Willingness to travel extensively (60%+).

Why Join HSDF?

This is a powerful opportunity to be part of a mission that saves mothers’ lives, strengthens local health systems, and drives long-term impact in Nigeria’s healthcare landscape.
